Born on the Calor province on the planet Mish about 6,000 lightyears from Earth, Saipia became an intergalactic cop solely to help others. However, while on the surface, her track record is positive, only a little digging can show that she is known for being ruthless and stubborn. Many of her pursuits have either gone missing or ended up dead. Yet, for whatever reason, her superiors have refused to give her negative marks.
This reputation, however, put her in charge of the most dangerous group of crime fighters in the galaxy. Initially known as the Terrorist Hunters, Saipia herself changed the title of her team to the Guardian Angels. Officially known as the Intergalactic Terrorism Division (ITD) of the Alliance Taskforce In Pursuit of Peace (ATIPP), the team is designed to prevent crimes and pursue criminals that would seek to commit heinous acts such as global and galactic genocide and illegal intergalactic experimentation.
It was because of such a case that started a series of events that led her to Earth. While on a solo case that involved the disappearance of the crew of a small ship, she learned the kidnapper had also been taking homeless people on various planets to use for terrible genetic experiments. The case led her to a Doctor M'Vora Ima, a female Litoran. They are a race of highly intelligent herbivores that are normally very peaceful. M'Vora's crimes even got her kicked out of her own society and off her own planet.
M'Vora had been tinkering with a machine known as a Genetic Recompiling Machine or GRM. Normally, these machines are used to treat serious wounds, but she had been using them to give victims genetic defects and mutations and even used it to combine the DNA of different species.
Saipia arrested her and the machine was destroyed and use of GRMs was immediately banned and all machines were ordered to be destroyed. But, unfortunately, a couple of the machines were kept and stored in museums and M'Vora escaped when a new warden was utterly surprised that a Litoran was in prison. So shocked was this idiot, that he let her go, thinking she had mistakenly been imprisoned. He was thrown in his own jail when word got out and Saipia was ordered to hunt M'Vora down again, but with the amendment that she was not to bring M'Vora back to the ITAPP HQ or to any prison.
The mad scientist stole one of the machines and eventually fled to Earth where she took the alias of Linda Summers, and befriended a Dr. Ira Stovanich, biologist and genetic researcher eager to break the language barrier between humans and animals. Armed with the GRM and two great minds, M'Vora was ready to begin her plan of using humanity as a giant evil experiment. She knew there would be plenty of humans who would love to have their DNA combined with animals. But, also many that would condemn those who became Furrs. And, she was curious if she could start a war essentially by using humanity's own prejudices against them.
When Saipia arrived on Earth, she realized the scope of her search, not really knowing where M'Vora was, and called in a team of 15 highly skilled and highly trained officers. They were tasked with finding M'Vora and when they did, report it to Saipia. Saipia's third in command, Isan found the scientist while walking through a park. At the same time, Saipia read an article in which Dr. Ira was giving a very curious interview in which he gave details of a new machine he was building that would finally allow people to "not only understand what animals are saying, but understand what it means to be an animal." Various other details led Saipia to realize that Ira had the GRM in is possession and knew that if she followed him, he would lead her to M'Vora.
The Colarian race is, like the Litorans, a incredibly intelligent race. But, even for them, Saipia, from an early age, displayed an impressive learning ability. She has always been able to pick up entire professions after only a few short hours or even how to build something after reading a manual. This has allowed her to learn many things and, having a very intelligent and talented engineer as a friend, she knew exactly how the GRM worked when she saw it. And she even helped to build and design her own cybernetic body when it was determined she had terminal breast cancer.
Her skills allowed her to easily become Dr. Ira's student. He became very fond of her and treated her like a daughter. And, eventually, introduced her to his wife Linda, though, at the time, the two did not realize who the other was. It wasn't until Linda, in a bit of jealous rage, threw her into the GRM and combined her DNA with a wolf that the two finally realized the truth. The machine first erased Saipia's disguise, revealing her bio-metallic structure. The machine immediately recognized her DNA and successfully combined Saipia with the wolf. How? Calorians had developed a way to fuse their real DNA with metal and nano technology. Because there was still some Calorian DNA there, the machine simply repaired that DNA with the Wolf DNA. But left in the nano technology, making Saipia the first Furr with self-repairing skin.
